Founded in 2019 by Roland Beaulieu, Adam Gaudet, and Owen Hann, Route 225 started out as a group
of PEI musicians performing their version of popular cover songs catered to the event/wedding
circuit.
After the sudden passing of bassist Owen Hann in 2022, the band made the difficult decision to
continue, retooling the band with two of PEI's most renowned musicians: Deryl Gallant (Bass,
Vocals) and Todd MacLean (Keyboards, Sax, Vocals and Guitar)
In a short period of time, they have become PEI's premier backup band, working with Amanda
Jackson, Anica (Canada's Got Talent golden buzzer winner), Trinity Bradshaw, and Brooke
MacArthur (Cavendish Beach Music Festival) in 2023, and appeared at several festivals and events
as a band on their own with Roland in front.
Route 225 is a band that is as stylistically diverse as you can get, and thrives on playing the
best songs you may have forgotten about. With their broad musical depth and instrumentation, you
will find them completely at home playing anything from Little Feat to Johnny Cash...Tina Turner
to Garth Brooks and everything in between.

For over 25 years, Roland has been called upon to be a support musician/musical director on guitar, bass, drums, mandolin, keyboards or background vocals, locally and internationally. Aside from being an accomplished and sought after solo acoustic performer and founding member of Route 225, Roland has been called upon as a backup musician for numerous artists, including the award winning Siren et Matelo (Lennie Gallant and Patricia Richard), Golden Buzzer winner Anica (Known to many as Katey Day), Michel Lalonde (Garolou), Carroll Baker, Cory Gallant, Nolan Compton, Trinity Bradshaw, Amanda Jackson, Ghostown, Brooke MacArthur and Marcella Richard, as well as numerous local artists and is also part of a family band named “Beau†with his siblings and father. In 2021, Roland was awarded PEI’s Musician of the Year and is nominated again for 2024.
Adam Gaudet began drumming on couches and pillows and from those early play-a-longs he always seemed to have a knack for finding the groove. After 20 years on a kit, Adam has gone from early high school DIY shows and Rock clubs to some of the biggest stages in PEI. A true student of the craft, he continues to evolve and immerse himself in broadening both his musical horizons and drumming identity while holding the drum chair for Route 225, Ghostown, The VLTs, and Geezer. He has also performed with Amanda Jackson, Anica, Trinity Bradshaw, Brooke MacArthur, and Amelia Underhill.
Deryl Gallant has been involved in the PEI music scene for over 30 years. From
garage band beginnings to a classical degree in double bass, Deryl has become a
sought after performing, touring, recording, and instructing bassist. Most recently
Deryl has been working with: Amanda Jackson, Route 225, Tara MacLean, Trinity
Bradshaw, Anica, Winterjazz, and more. Deryl has tracked bass on more than 30
recordings in his career. In 2015 he received the Music PEI Musician of the Year
award and was selected by the PEI Jazz and Blues festival as the Doug Riley Artist.
In 2024, Deryl was honoured by the East Coast Music Association Board of Directors
with the
Musician's Achievment Award which recognizes a session musician who
exemplifies
professionalism and quality musicianship on recordings and/or live performances of
East Coast music.
Todd MacLean is a wildcard multi-instrumentalist who enjoys the great pleasure of playing alongside many of the best musicians that comprise the vibrant PEI music scene. As a saxophonist, pianist and guitarist, he has performed and toured internationally, is a member of several successful music ensembles on the Island, is a multiple Music PEI Award and ECMA award winner, and he also teaches over 45 private music students per week and was named Music PEI’s Musician of the Year in 2011.
